first things first - huge thanks to everyone who has e-mailed, written, or otherwise expressed their support for what we have done over the years as a band. thanks.
since the last update a few things have happened that you should know about | first, some have expressed regret about the last show falling on a thursday night… alright already | we have decided to include one more show after our june 30th show with sometimes why at the Pyro. this show will likely be in a month or two and will fall on a weekend. you’ll know more when everything is firmed up on our end.
second, as much as we and everyone love Quinton Schmitt, he will not be joining us for the last two shows | you should check out fairbanks and schooled in victory for a fine example of Q’s low end prowess. Q is a great guy. in any event, a call was made to Mr. Brandon Lott and once he got his bass and arm bands out of hock, he saddled up for the last two shows. I’ll update you all soon with a date on the final, final show. until then, we’ll see you at the Pyro June 30th. .
that is all-

so much to report, but before an update of things in general I'd like to tip the proverbial 40 to our friend, and bass player brandon lott who has amicably left our group | after much consideration...a call was made to bassist Quinton Schmit, of such k.c. bands as Fairbanks and Schooled in Victory. Mr. Schmit accepted our olive branch and will now be in charge of all things bass in tnsw.
that said, you might ask "when and where can i see a display of that which is now the Storied Northwest?" - answers, friends, are forthcoming in the form of a mid-summer mini tour with Canadian rockers Sometimes Why. dates, venues, etc. will be posted soon. the gentlemen of Somtimes Why have a new album out and you should go buy it here.

In related news, b lott and the gentlemen of Schooled in Victory have asked me to add some vocals on their new album "Snapshot of an Era." of course i accepted their offer and am currently wrapping up tracking for said album. look for an end of summer release for "Snapshot." - there will also be a live delivery of SIV on at least one date of the Sometimes Why / Storied Northwest tour.
lots more to say...but we'll wait until all is confirmed and within our greedy grasp. Take it- nick- tsn

bio
The Storied Northwest was given the gift of life in early 2000 in Kansas City, Missouri. Increasing dissatisfaction with an earlier project led to Nicolas Cline, (guitarist) and Justin Tricomi (drummer) breaking off to create something new, heavier and more aggressive. Bass player Jeff Stephens soon joined them.
The trio decided on the name A Storied Northwest, and immediately began writing songs. Within months of their inception they played their first show with The Hillary Step and Reflector, in the basement of Harry Anderson. The trio continued writing material, playing shows, and trying to craft their sound. The music was melodic, yet aggressive with some dissonance and a focus on rhythm. Some have described their sound as indie-rock or post hardcore. Both titles might fit, yet neither truly captures the intensity and craft of the band. By the middle of the year the trio felt they had enough material to head into the studio.
Latter 2000 saw the group head to Westend Studios in Kansas City, Kansas to track with Paul Malinowski of Shiner fame (RIP). During their stay at Westend it became evident that Stephens and the other two members began to have different ideas about the direction of their music. Midway through tracking Jeff Stephens and the band parted ways. A 4 – string replacement was found in the person of Esteban Carracialo. Six songs became the product of this endeavor.
Due to the lineup change, and other circumstances, the group decided to change their name to Sinatra. They played their first show under their new name at the grand opening of The Pyro room in Kansas City with Shiner and Houston. More shows ensued, as well as, seemingly perpetual confusion as to the band's name. The trio continued to write songs and shared the stage with such bands as Season to Risk, Lafayette (RIP), The Casket Lottery, The Appleseed Cast, Traindodge, Dirtnap, Ring Cicada, Houston, and others. After about a year and much consideration, the band decided to change their name yet again. The Storied Northwest was to become the bands permanent name.
During much the same period the decision was also made to augment the band's sound even more. While the prospect of a mandolin player seemed unrealistic at the time, a solid solution presented itself in the person of Michael Dulin. Dulin adds color, counter-melodies, textures, as well as, occasional vocals. Dulin's strong musical background, accompanied by his savvy fashion sense, adds to the well- rounded "Northwest" sound.
Around the middle of 2003 the band and bass player Esteban Carracialo decided to part ways. A 'low end' replacement was found in Mr. Brandon Lott. Lott performed previously in other bands in the Kansas City area (abs) , and currently maintains his own in the bands Schooled in Victory & The Blank Stares. The chemistry began to feel right again in the band. Much practicing ensued, along with writing, re-writing, and writing some more. The Storied Northwest sound continues to grow and change. A conscious work in progress, the band continues to write and record and write some more and buy equipment they can't afford. The Storied Northwest proudly plays through vintage British amplifiers.
